Marina Kaštela, located in the picturesque bay of Kaštela, is one of the most modern and well-equipped marinas in the Adriatic, representing an important nautical center on the Croatian coast. Strategically positioned between the historic cities of Split and Trogir, Marina Kaštela offers privileged access to one of the most fascinating and culturally rich stretches of coastline in Dalmatia.
The history of Marina Kaštela began in 2002 with the inauguration of the project, designed to create a cutting-edge nautical center capable of accommodating a wide range of vessels, from small yachts to large cruise ships. The project was developed in two phases, with a particular focus on the quality of services offered and environmental sustainability. Today, the marina has approximately 420 boat berths, each equipped with all necessary facilities such as drinking water, electricity, and Wi-Fi connection. The marina’s geographical location is remarkable. Protected from winds by the presence of Mount Kozjak to the north, the Marjan peninsula to the southeast, and the island of Čiovo to the southwest, Marina Kaštela ensures safe navigation conditions and offers breathtaking views. Furthermore, the proximity to Split airport, located just 7 kilometers away, makes the marina easily accessible for international tourists. In addition to being a tourist port, Marina Kaštela is a cultural and social center. The marina regularly hosts events and nautical competitions, including international regattas, which attract sailing enthusiasts from around the world. Visitors can enjoy facilities such as restaurants, bars, and shops, making their stay at the marina comfortable and enjoyable. The marina collaborates with local communities and educational institutions to promote sports and nautical education. For example, it supports various sailing and rowing clubs, offering facilities and spaces for training and competition organization. Additionally, it is involved in scholarship programs for young athletes, thus contributing to the growth and development of the next generation of sailors.Culturally, Marina Kaštela is ideally located to explore the historical riches of the region. Within a short distance are four cities of great historical and cultural interest: Split, with its famous Diocletian’s Palace; Solin, home to the ancient Roman ruins of Salona; Trogir, a jewel of medieval architecture; and of course Kaštela, composed of seven picturesque villages, each with its own castle and stories to tell. These castles, built during the Middle Ages to protect inhabitants from pirate raids and enemy forces, offer a charming atmosphere and a window into the region’s glorious past. The city of Kaštela has a fascinating history dating back to Roman and Greek times. During the Middle Ages, the region saw the construction of numerous castles (hence the name “Kaštela”), which were built to protect inhabitants from pirate raids and enemy forces. Today, these castles and the cobbled streets of the villages offer a charming atmosphere and a window into the region’s glorious past. Politically, Marina Kaštela represents a successful example of sustainable development and integration between tourism and local culture. Its environmentally responsible management and support for local communities demonstrate how it is possible to combine tourism activity with respect for the environment and the enhancement of local traditions.
