This is Holland is a unique interactive experience in the heart of Amsterdam that offers visitors a panoramic and immersive view of the Netherlands. Located near the National Maritime Museum and Amsterdam Central Station, this attraction stands out for its innovative approach to narrating Dutch history and culture through a simulated flight. Opened in 2017, This is Holland is housed in a modern building that reflects the fusion of technology and tradition characterizing the attraction. The structure offers a new and dynamic perspective on the landscape, history, and culture of the Netherlands, utilizing flight simulation technology to create an unprecedented immersive experience. The heart of the experience is the “Flying Theatre,” where visitors are suspended in the air in front of a 180-degree dome screen. Thanks to special effects like wind, mist, and scents, visitors are transported on an aerial journey over some of the Netherlands’ most iconic locations, such as the canals of Amsterdam, tulip fields, the windmills of Kinderdijk, and the port of Rotterdam. This simulated flight lasts about nine minutes and is designed to offer a breathtaking and detailed view of the Dutch landscape, making the experience both educational and spectacular. The attraction is divided into several sections that prepare visitors for the simulated flight. In the first part, “The Holland Lounge,” the history and culture of the Netherlands are explored through a series of interactive exhibits. This space introduces visitors to the geography, history, and innovations that have shaped the country. Informative panels, videos, and interactive installations provide in-depth context, making the experience educational and engaging.Next, visitors enter the “The Dutch Experience” hall, where short films and presentations explain how the Netherlands has managed its complex environmental challenges, such as flood control and water management. This space highlights the ingenuity and resilience of the Dutch people, celebrating their technical and engineering achievements. The structure is accessible to people of all ages and physical abilities, with particular attention to visitor safety and comfort. The attraction is fully accessible to the disabled and offers audio explanations in various languages, making it an inclusive experience for international visitors.
