The Casino Nobile, located inside Villa Torlonia, is one of the most elegant historic residences in Rome. Built in the 19th century as the residence of the Torlonia family, the casino is a magnificent example of neoclassical architecture and artistic decoration. The Casino Nobile was designed by the architect Giuseppe Valadier and later renovated by Giovan Battista Caretti, who added numerous rooms decorated with frescoes, stuccoes, and precious marbles. The interior of the casino is a celebration of art and beauty, with sumptuously decorated rooms that reflect the refined taste and luxury of the Roman aristocracy of the time. Of particular interest is the Ballroom, with its frescoed ceiling depicting mythological and allegorical scenes. This room, with its golden mirrors and marble floors, represents one of the most extraordinary examples of neoclassical decoration in Rome. An interesting anecdote concerns the use of the Casino Nobile as the official residence of Benito Mussolini during the fascist period. Mussolini and his family lived here from 1925 to 1943, and many of the rooms were adapted to the needs of the dictator’s political and social life.
